Christmas is here early for shojo fans as Hiro Fujiwara, the creator of Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama!, recently announced a new chapter of the series. Moreover, Fujiwara also shared some updates on her new project. It’s been more than a decade since Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama! ended, and there couldn’t be a better surprise than this.

Hiro Fujiwara Announces Extra Chapter of Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama! 

Maid-Sama! is a classic shojo romance anime-manga series that is highly regarded by fans. The manga started its run in 2005 and came to an end in 2013. Since then there have been no updates about a potential sequel, until recently. Hiro Fujiwara shared the news about a special chapter of the series on her X handle.

The mangaka also announced her new manga titled ‘Neko ni Wagamama’ or ‘Selfish Cat’. The LaLa DX magazine described the manga as a story that revolves around a hyperactive high school girl and her quiet classmate, who is a cat! The new series and the special chapter of Maid-Sama! will be published in the March issue of LaLa DX.

Nobody expected Maid-Sama! to make a comeback like this, even though the anime’s potential return was always on fans’ minds. As the fan-favorite manga series once again becomes a hot topic of discussion, let’s explore if the anime could also return the same way. 

Here’s How Probable It Is For Maid-Sama! Anime to Make a Comeback

Maid-Sama! anime concluded its run in September 2010. It’s an incomplete adaptation of the manga, and there are plenty of chapters for a sequel season. However, the content of the manga is outdated in some aspects and might not be received well. This problem can easily be solved if the anime returns as a reboot with a few tweaks to deal with the problematic aspects.

Moreover, it would also attract new fans to the sweet love story of Misaki and Usui, as the dated series can be quite difficult to get into. Back in the day, Misaki and Usui were recognized as the power couple and were all the rage! In recent years, shojo series have consistently been a part of the seasonal anime line-ups.

There’s plenty of content left to adapt and the hype can be easily reignited, but it will all come down to how lucrative the potential return would be. So, there’s no definite sign or hope that the anime will make its awaited comeback soon, but the chances are not zero. In the meantime, we have a special chapter to look forward to! 

The new chapter Maid-Sama! and Neko ni Wagamama will be released on February 5th, 2025 in LaLa DX magazine.
