Despite Being a God of Destruction That Could One Shot Anyone Beerus Still Has a Critical Weakness Even Dragon Ball Super Cannot Undo

Beerus, the God of Destruction in Dragon Ball, beats most of his peers in terms of strength, speed, and agility. One flick of his wrist has the power to annihilate a planet, making him one of the most feared beings. Not even the greatest warriors, including Goku and Frieza, can easily approach him.

His Hakai, for instance, has the power to delete something’s reality into non-existence. There is, however, an unpretentiously deeper truth to the matter.

Despite his incredible feats, Beerus is not, as some fans would like him to be, an invincible being. There are powers, vulnerabilities, and weaknesses to Beerus’ abilities that somehow make him not the terrible deity but somewhat humanized. Here’s the reason.

Beerus Isn’t An Invincible Being That Some Fans Make Him Out to Be

Beerus is usually seen as the unstoppable villain who can instantly wipe out anyone. But, this idea is actually very far from reality. While Beerus has immense strength and powers, he also shows vulnerabilities while engaging other strong entities like Whis, his peer, Jiren, or Ultra Instinct Goku as well.

A certain YouTube short also mentioned that it is very much wrong when people misunderstand Hakai as an all-powerful destruction tool. There are limitations to it too. In the manga Dragon Ball Super, Beerus has claimed that he cannot kill immortals, saying,

No… I can’t kill immortals…

The anime supports this notion by mentioning that proper sealing techniques are needed to handle such entities. This clarification in information shows that Hakai’s powers for destruction are not absolute and that powers like those possessed by Beerus do have a boundary.

This again brings to the surface that he is afraid of beings stronger than him, like Zeno and Grand Priest, whom he cannot actually confront. If he could kill anyone so conveniently, there would be no point for him to show respect or fear.

This is precisely the reason why his carefulness towards some of the entities underlines the fact that he knows where his weaknesses lie. His failure to destroy some of the creatures and his awareness of his powers limit him, solidifying the fact that Beerus is not an invincible force as fans have portrayed him to be.

The Limitations of HAKAI, Beerus’ Ultimate Power

Hakai, Beerus’ strongest ability, clears the very concept of existence with unmatched force. It comprised a major part of Dragon Ball Super, showing Beerus’ unparalleled power, and giving him the title of God of Destruction.

However, this power is not absolute, as some major interactions happen to reveal that. As we all know, Goku and Frieza survived several Hakai attempts, hinting this particular ability does not work on such strong enemies. So Beerus depends much on perfect energy match-up and parameters like physical proximity, while cautiously engaging an opponent.

One certain limitation of Hakai exposes Beerus’ weakness behind his monstrous fame. That is, the threat of Hakai is reduced when dealing with opponents whose power levels vary a lot. It is only efficient at the level of Beerus, and thereby it is not fully substantive on its own.

As a matter of fact, Vegeta even punched through Hakai once without much struggle and was able to prove that it is indeed limited. This gives realness to Beerus’ powers and breaks the myth that Hakai is invincible. Hakai, as limited and weak as it is cannot extend to Immortals and superior beings like Zeno and Grand Priest, proving that Beerus is powerful indeed but his energy has strong limitations and restrictions to it.

The Dragon Ball series is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
